Welcome to Chasing Light

Photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. During 30 years in the Royal Navy, I worked as a press and PR photographer and video cameraman. I later photographed weddings and worked as an e-commerce photographic and content specialist in Dubai. When I retired in September 2024, I finally had more time to pursue the photographs I most wanted to take.

I’m drawn to everything the moves really but seriously, street scenes, fine art architecture landscapes and travel really light my fire. A building’s geometry can give order to a busy street; a change in light can make a familiar place feel entirely new. I enjoy traveling with a small camera and allowing time for those moments to reveal themselves,

I created this site as a home for that work: a collection I can keep adding to, with space to share the stories behind the images.

So finding your way around the site!

The home page shows my 15 latest uploads. For more, choose a gallery from the menu. Each gallery opens as a grid of thumbnails. Select one to see it larger, then scroll through the collection. The back button returns you to the grid.

Under each gallery photograph, the eye icon shows or hides descriptions across the gallery. The plain eye means descriptions are visible; the crossed out eye means they’re hidden. You can also like a photograph with the heart, share a link to that particular image with the curved arrow, or use the frame icon for a distraction-free Gallery Wall View.

You can switch between light and dark backgrounds using Appearance in the menu. If you’d like to ask about using one of my photographs, open its description and choose Enquire about this image or message me about anything at the foot of the site. You can also comment in the blog!
